HyperCell_Interface (Kinect + Processing)


HyperCell_Interface is part of the on-going research, HyperCell.
In this phase, the free-form gesture interface is roughly developed
to test the possibility of real-time interaction.
The basic logic and idea of the HyperCell research has been posted on this website 
with the tag of HyperCell.

HyperCell Interface 是 HyperCell這個研究的其中一階段
在這階段 主要以建構 Free-Form 手勢介面為主
去研究即時溝通的可能性.
基本的HyperCell概念與發展可以透過這連結去了解:
HyperCell


HyperCell has been explore in many different aspects 
mainly based on a biological background.
According to the acknowledge from Evo-Devo,
All species share the same gene, but with different amount and regulation 
to from this diversity living creature world.
HyperCell trying to take this idea applied into architectural design 
to seek a approach to achieve complex outcome with basic and simple rules.
In the other hand, the idea of "cell", an essential organic component, 
was inspired and token as an intelligent architectural component to
achieve the real-time adaptive architectural space.

HyperCell已經探究各種不同面相基於生物學的基礎.
根據從演化生物學之知識得知所有物種皆基於同樣的基因而生
僅數量與組合邏輯之不同
造成多樣性的生物
HyperCell試圖將這個概念應用於建築設計
去尋求基於簡單邏輯創造複雜形體的可能性
換句話說 也是希望透過生物中細胞的啟發與想法
設計類同於細胞之建築單元體
以創造可共時產生適應性之建築

In this post, it mainly focuses on the users and object communication
with free form gesture.
It's more a experiment and demo to see how people can
interact with the object without mouse control we used to use.
All the furniture pieces were design and built by HyperCell component 
within the Logic-DNA and Dimension-DNA.
This various furniture typologies showing how simple the rule can 
drive diverse end products.

在本文中 主要討論使用者與物件之間透過free form首飾的溝通.
初步的實驗去實現使用者在不透過滑鼠的控制下能否與物件溝通
所有用HyperCell創造的家具
是基於邏輯DNA跟尺度DNA.
這多樣性的家具型態展現如何透過簡單邏輯
去產生多元化的產品


As a transformable furniture build by HyperCell, 
it can easily morph into another furniture pieces.
In the other words, chair can become bed, and become table 
based on users' needs (environmental factor in our research).
This furniture driven space will create a multi-functional space in
a single foot-print area to reduce the redundancy of the space 
and more fits in young generation living style.

透過這些可變化的家具
家具機能可以轉化為另一個家具機能
換句話說 椅子可以變成床
床可以變成桌子
依據著使用者的需求(本實驗的環境因素)
這種家具驅使空間可以創造多樣功能空間在
同一個單元空間之上而減少空間的多餘性
也更符合年輕族群的生活

The basic idea of this phase is to transfer the usual buttons and sliders 
that we used in computer into a virtual buttons and sliders.
It might make users easily to control the object roughly.
1. The distance between hands as a value given to the slider to control
the basic dimension and amount of the HyperCell.
2. When people place their hands into certain area, it will function as a button
to select the mode, pause or play, and export files.

本階段著重在轉換我們通常透過滑鼠所使用的按鍵與Sliders
轉換為空間中的虛擬按鍵與Sliders.
或許粗淺的讓使用者更容易操控物件
1. 雙手之間距離轉換為SLIDER中的數值控制基本的HyperCell
尺度與數量
2. 當手經過特定位置時 其會像按鍵般啟動
使得使用者可選取要的家具模式 暫停或開啟
重設 以及 輸出檔案
